I had this green juice every single day in Jamaica and finally asked my friend Ivan for the secret ingredients: Callaloo. This is a staple of Jamaica and is full of fibre, which can help regulate blood sugar. It is also a great source of Vitamin C. Fresh ginger is a must and has huge anti-inflammatory properties. The fresh orange will add a little sunshine, and the hemp seeds will provide you with Omega 3s.
- 2 cups of dark, leafy callaloo (can substitute kale or spinach)
- 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
- 1 orange, peeled and chopped.
- 1 big knob of ginger, freshly chopped
- 2 tbsp hemp seeds
- 2 cups or more of water
Blend all ingredients together in a Vitamix, starting on slow and revving up to high. Leave running for two minutes for a smooth consistency.
