Cherry and Spinach Smoothie

Not all smoothies are bright green and IG-worthy: Enter the Cherry and Spinach Smoothie It will be brown. Basic primary colours: green and red equals brown.

But it is delicious.

Secret: This has been my go-to smoothie for at least 5 years on a Friday morning before my cycling class. I vary the liquid between unsweetened vanilla almond milk, coconut milk, cashew milk, coconut water or just plain water – it keeps it different and interesting. But there is something about this smoothie that gives me a little more fire in my legs.

This smoothie also works with Swiss Chard but it is a little more bitter.

Smoothie Ingredients

  • ½ frozen banana
  • ¾ cup frozen cherries
  • 2 cups of spinach
  • 2 cups of almond, cashew, oat or hemp milk or coconut/water
  • 1 Tbsp chia or hemp seed or 2 tsp ground flax
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon


Blend all ingredients together in a blender / Vitamix. Enjoy!
