Smoothies became a big thing in our house during one of our many homeschooling adventures.
Did I say adventure? Amazing the way hindsight works.
My kids would go on their Google meets and at recess would come downstairs for their daily morning smoothie. Normally, Teague is a Chocolate Cherry Smoothie kind of guy, but on this day I surprised him and asked him to trust me with this creation. After he had had one sip he turned to me and said, “Mum, you have to put this on the Healthy Six. What is in it? It’s DELICIOUS!!!”
The secret of, of course, is coconut and pineapple which we know and love to be a Pina Colada. Teague coined the term Green-A-Colada and there you have it. The colour is vibrant from spinach and pineapple mixed together. This smoothie serves 2-3
- 3 cups spinach
- 3/4 cup frozen pineapple
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/2 tin of coconut milk OR 1 tbsp creamed coconut
- 3 cups of water
- 1 tbsp hemp seeds
- 1 tbsp microplaned ginger
- dash of turmeric
